Pride Power Australia can best be described as a business consultancy which specialises in providing professional services to business teams in Australia and internationally.

Pride Power has two directors, Ian Schubach and Ian Thomas, who between them have a combined 15-years experience as African Safari Guides.

Both Ians believe passionately that much can be learnt by business from observing natural systems in the African wilderness and have given over 1,000 keynote presentations to audiences worldwide.

Ian Schubach is now based in Sydney and Ian Thomas is based in Johannesburg. "Many business leaders ask me the question, how can I create high performing teams on a sustainable basis? I believe that one of the most striking examples of long-term team success is to be be found in the bush of Africa.

"African lions have been working in successful teams for thousands of years so they certainly qualify on the sustainability front! The metaphor for human teams does not end there. Analysis of the pride's success reveals some familiar teamwork themes - themes we all know intimately but seldom get right."

Using dramatic wildlife imagery and gripping storytelling ability, Ian engages and thrills his audiences. His presentations are full of sound business sense interlaced with humour. Audiences leave enthralled and repeat the stories to friends and colleagues resulting in immense take home business value from the wild.

Topics

Ian Schubach & the Power of the Pride

Topic: Teamwork
Time: 1 to 1 and 1/2 hours

Ian Schubach presents a riveting and informative account of how lions, the only cats that hunt in teams, can be compared with how businesses operate as teams.

Lions formed teams in order to hunt the vast herds of antelope that evolved onto Africa's Savannah. The strategy of using teams to ambush these herds was extremely successful.

Individual lions and lionesses benefited from this association and the prides became extremely powerful. The presentation covers key teamwork themes such as communication, goal setting and synergy. Lion's create individual and team success through specialists focussing on their strengths. Ian Schubach & Survival of the FIttest

Topic: Adapting to Change
Time: 1 hour

In the business environment of today, we all need a different perspective on adapting to constant change. During his time as an African game ranger, Ian Schubach spent many hours viewing leopards in the bush. Many of Africa's great predatory cats are under threat, yet the Leopard has been able to maintain its range and in some cases expand it. Ian believes that leopards are successful because they

  • Focus on their strengths
  • Exploit their competitive advantages
  • Are flexible and adaptive

Ian explores these points with his unique story telling style, clearly illustrating how business people can expand their range.

"A huge thanks from us all at CSC for a really outstanding presentation"
Sarah Cornick - Computer Sciences Corporation

"Ian presented to a group of BP resellers. His presentation was outstanding, full of life, enthusiasm and major teamwork pointers. In fact the delegates carried many of his themes through the conference with continual references to them. This was probably the litmus test"
J Wittin - Managing director, B- Line advertising

"What a way to end the day. Ian's talk was delivered with PASSION with the lessons learned in nature transported to the business world"
Wilred Robinson - Managing Executive, ABSA Private Bank

"Unbelievably energetic, creative and so true to our everyday lives! You evoked powerful emotions from everyone."
Jenni Kerr - Octagon SA

"We just hope they stay put as software engineers and don't leave the company to track lions in the bushveld"
Jo-ann du Plessis - UEC Technology

"It was the highlight of our two day Global Energy Group Conference. I received many very positive comments with respect to applying the principals of the "Power the Pride". Initially, many of my colleagues were skeptical that the concept of teamwork had anything to do with lions. You certainly succeeded in changing their perspective. We plan to build on those principals to strengthen our organization. Hopefully our paths will cross again. I believe other departments at CSFB would benefit from your thoughts."
George A. Schreiber, Jr. - Chairman Global Power, CREDIT FIRST SUISSE BOSTON

"Ian obviously paid great attention to the brief and the theme of the conference – being Working As One. His presentation content and messages were constantly referred back to a business message which was also personalised to the audience and the client’s products. This made his presentation relevant and pertinent to the delegates. Their feedback indicates that they found his presentation excellent and pertinent to their businesses."
